Montigo x Let's go!

It was a Friday night in September/October last year and we were having drinks at Ying Yang Bar at The Club Hotel. Someone went, "Let's go to Montigo. Whoever can't make it will have to eat your own sh*t".

Yep, that's how crude my friends are and that's also the very reason the eight of us spontaneously packed our bags and left for Batam for a quick weekend getaway. Sometimes it's so hard to plan a gathering in Singapore due to our different schedules, so it was a pleasant surprise that all of us (sans the two others in Australia) could make it for the trip!

Booked our tickets from Batam Fast and we paid $45 for a return ferry trip. Batam was one hour behind and we departed Harbour Front Terminal at 930am and arrived at Batam Centre at 930am. The check in time at Montigo was only at 3pm so we decided to go for a massage at Eska Wellness once we arrived. We didn't have to worry about transport for the big group of us as they picked us up from the ferry terminal, and after our massage sent us to Montigo.

Not surprising, but this was the first meal we had at Batam. A&W!

Montigo was located nearer to Nongsa Ferry Terminal and the drive there took us around 45 minutes. The eight of us booked two sea front villas from Agoda at $480 per villa. We had initially wanted to book just one villa for all of us but Montigo had a max capacity of 4 people per villa but we read reviews online that additional pax had to pay $100 each.

When we opened the doors to our villa, we rushed into the house and just couldn't stop screaming and taking photos of the place. Each villa was three storeys - the living room and a private pool on the first floor, a master bedroom and another room for 2 pax on the second floor, and a huge rooftop space on the third.

The master bedroom which came with a huge toilet

For dinner that night, we went to this place called Batu Besar. We heard so much about Golden Prawn, but didn't want to spend an hour of travelling time just to go down. The seafod at Batu Besar was alright, but on hindsight we should've gone to Golden Prawn.

Don't forget to check out the far end of the resort where they have a public pool. When we went, we had the entire pool to ourself!

The best - a drink with a view!

Till the next time we meet, Montigo!
