Chop Blocks

Oxford dictionary named 'selfie' as the word of the year in 2013.

Ellen's Oscar selfie made headlines and was touted to be worth $1 billion.

Singapore has an MP who is nicknamed Selfie King.

There is a selfie song.

Countless marketing campaigns have tried and are still trying to infuse selfies into their plans. Selfie campaigns have been done to death (like hosting events at Wheeler's Yard, yawn) and are no longer creative and original. But truth be told, people are still very obsessed with taking selfies of themselves and Instagram can attest to that.

Chop Block - a gift for the selfie generation. This is one of the funniest gift I ever received! It's a stamp with an imprint of my face, and comes with four coloured ink pads and stickers of myself. This really takes narcissism to the next level.

I thought that the stamps were carved by machines, but was fascinated to find out that each stamp is hand drawn by talented artists! Mind blown, the stamp really looks like me!

Check out Poppinprints - the people behind Pixaroll Chop Blocks. They are currently having 40% off with the discount code 'CHOPCHOP40'. It takes 10 days for local delivery, and 14 days for worldwide shipment.

Pretty neat idea for a gift!

Thank you to my friend who gifted it to me! Love it.

Sunday Folks x Creamier

West siders rejoice! Creamier has just opened a second outlet in Holland Village's Chip Bee Gardens. For the uninitiated (and those living under a rock), Creamier is THE go to place to satisfy one's cravings for waffles. Nestled underneath a block of flats in Toa Payoh, the queue at Creamier is always snaking long and often spilling outside of their shop. The shop has a small seating capacity of approximately 30 and it's not surprising to see people bringing their plates of waffles to the nearby playground and benches to eat.

When Timeout posted an Instagram post on Sunday Folks today, I was so stoked and knew that I had to check it out pronto. The vibe of Sunday Folk was very different from Creamier - it was more laid back, and surprisingly seats were aplenty with no queue to boot. Perhaps it's because it's only five days old, and the hipsters have yet to find out about this hidden gem.

If you're looking forward to your scoop of Thai Iced Milk Tea or Peanut Butter Jelly icecream fix from Creamier, you'll be disappointed to find out that Sunday Folks pales in comparison in terms of the selection of ice cream. At present, only six flavours of icecream are available. The twist (literally) is that the icecream is a freshly churned soft serve concoction, but the downside is that you can't do a double scoop on top of your waffles.

Sunday Folk serves cakes and desserts too, but I didn't try any.

And here's my Creamier waffles and icecream from one week ago. Waffles with Strawberry and Lime & Thai Iced Milk Tea as well as Peanut Butter Jelly & Banana Chocolate Chip.

Perhaps Sunday Folks was trying out a new concept as the crowd at Chip Bee Gardens is more atas, but I'll go back to the Toa Payoh Creamier branch and brave the long queues anytime!
